How to Feel Prepared for Yoga and Pilates at Healthletica
A welcoming guide for yoga and Pilates members — new, returning and long‑time
Whether you’re joining us for the first time, coming back after a break, or simply refreshing your memory, this guide is here to help you feel comfortable and prepared. Our community includes people of all experience levels, and a few shared guidelines help us create a calm, safe and supportive environment for everyone. You don’t need to be flexible, experienced or “in shape” to begin — just come as you are, and we’ll take care of the rest.
Choosing a Class That Fits Your Needs
Here’s a simple guide many new and returning members find helpful:
- For grounding and ease:
Relaxation Stretch, Hatha or Puppy Yoga — gentle, steady and suitable for all levels. - For movement and flow:
Vinyasa or Ashtanga — more dynamic and best for those with some yoga experience. - For full‑body strength and conditioning:
Pilates — all levels welcome, with modifications offered throughout class.
Before You Arrive
A few things that make your visit smooth and stress‑free
- Book your class in advance through our online schedule or the WellnessLiving Achieve App. You can reserve your spot up to 10 minutes before class begins. If you miss the booking window, you’re still welcome to come in — our front desk team will sign you in if space is available.
- Arrive at least 5 minutes early. If it’s your first visit or you need to purchase something, give yourself a little extra time.
For everyone’s safety and comfort, we can’t allow late entry once class begins. - Hydrate well beforehand. This is especially important for hot yoga and warm Pilates classes, where you’ll sweat more than usual.
- Avoid heavy meals within an hour of class. Light snacks are fine; a full stomach can make movement uncomfortable.
- Skip perfumes and strong scents. Many people are scent‑sensitive, and we want the space to feel comfortable for everyone.
When You Enter the Studio
A calm, welcoming environment starts at the door
- Remove your shoes at the front entrance.
- Check in at reception so we know you’ve arrived.
- Store all personal belongings — bags, clothing, keys, and silenced phones — in the change room. Only your mat, props and water bottle come into the practice room.
Setting Up Your Space
Each class has its own vibe — here’s what to expect
- Yoga classes: The yoga room is kept quiet before class so members can settle in, breathe and relax.
- Pilates classes: The Pilates room is more conversational. Feel free to chat quietly as you set up.
- Place your mat in the designated areas. Align the top left corner of your mat with the white floor marking. Mat placement for Pilates classes may vary depending on the instructor’s setup.
- Take a moment to arrive. You’re welcome to rest in child’s pose, lie down or simply sit comfortably before class begins.
- If you’re new to yoga or Pilates — or if you find it easier to follow visual cues — we encourage you to set up near the front of the room. Being closer to the instructor gives you a clear view of demonstrations and makes it easier to hear guidance throughout class. Many members find this helps them feel more confident and supported.
During Class
Move at your own pace — truly
- Listen to your body. Resting is always encouraged.
- Follow the instructor’s guidance. They’ll offer clear cues and options for all levels.
- Stay hydrated. Sip water as needed, especially in heated classes.
If you have questions, your instructor is happy to chat after class.

Safety Notes for Heated Classes
For hot yoga and warm Pilates
- Heated classes can increase warmth and perspiration, though everyone’s body responds differently. Listen to what feels right for you.
- Hydrate before and after class.
- Take breaks whenever you need them.
- If you feel lightheaded or overheated, rest immediately.
- Slipping on your mat?
A mat designed for heated environments can improve stability and safety. Our front desk team can help you choose one that suits your practice.
Your First Class — or First Class Back
A few reassuring notes
- You don’t need to know the poses or exercises. Your instructor will guide you.
- People rest often, especially in their first few classes or when returning after time away.
- Every student in the room was new once. You’re in good company.
- You’re welcome to take things at your own pace — always.
We’re Glad You’re Here
Whether you’re exploring yoga, Pilates or both, we’re excited to welcome you into our community. Our goal is to help you move, breathe and reconnect with yourself in a supportive, uplifting environment.
